experience of two Governments should be enabled lo pursue that course that will harmonize the feelings of citizens, insure the protection of individual rights, and honestly promote the true interests of their Country. I believe a Convention called by the Army would attain this object. I regret that the situation of my wound as well as my general health has heretofore prevented my joining the Army. They are both improving and I pray you to assure my Comrades in Arms that I will be proud to reunite with them so soon as practicable, which I devoutly hope will be at no distant period. Until then I shall only feel interested in their honor and happiness. This letter was well as all the accompanying papers are through you submitted for the information of the army, accompanied by my warmest regards.
