Making it hereby the duty of the said Jacob Snively, carefully, diligently, and faithfully to discharge all his duties as such Pay ~laster; to conform himself strictly to the Rules and Regulations which have been or may hereafter be adopted for the Government of the Army of the Republic, and to be obedient to all the lawful orders of his superior Officers. And it is hereby further expressly enjoined that the said Jacob Sniveley do compel all Officers Privates and others placed under his command to render a prompt and complete obedience to all his lawful orders appertaining to the Public Service, and to see that they fail not in the discharge of their several duties. For all which, this Commission shall be his sufficient Warrant. Given under my hand at Velasco this Sixth day of August A.O. 1836, and of the Independence of the Republic of Texas the First David G. To Thos. Toby Esq. Texas Agent, New Orleans Sir, .
You are hereby authorized and requested to pay over to Col. G. G. Alford or his order as much land Scrip of this Government as will amount, at the current price thereof, to the sum of three thousand and twenty dollars and fifty cents, and should any fraction remain in the division of this sum, you will please pay such fraction in money. It is understood that Col Alford is not obliged to receive Scrip for his demand against the Government, provided the price should exceed 50 cents per acre.
