Now, therefore, be it known that I, David G. Bu rnel, president of the republic of Texas, by and with the advice and consent of my cabinet, do, by this public act, disclose and make known that the only agents for Texas, in the United Stales, are Thomas Toby and Samuel Toby, of New Orleans, of the firm Thomas Toby and brother, and that no other person is from this time authorized to act for, or bind this government, or to receive any thing for the benefit ()f Texas, by way of donation or otherwise except them or their sub•agenls. And that all agencies or powers heretofore conferred upon any other persons, authorising them to contract for or borrow money, or to raise funds for the benefit of Texas, are, by this public act, solemnly declared to be revoked, null and void, except the agency of Robert Triplell, whose resignation takes effect from the first day of July next. To prevent a second arrest of the Crew of the Invincible on the Charge of Piracy il was deemed necessary to seltle with such Citizens of the United States as had suffered damage, and by tlial means silence them. It was accordingly done. In the selllemen L of Capt Howes accounl he claimed Lhe enclosed 13ill which we did not think proper lo allow, deeming it as included in the Inventory of the sale of the vessel-We however promised him Lo submit the same to the decission of your department-Your delerminalion as lo its allowance is requeslecl,
