I enclose you two letters for Genl. Cos. The one has been opened and examined here. the other is from myself and in these times of high Suspicion I leave it open for Your inspection-not as my wal,c/1 but al:i a friend. I all:io send a trunk for Genl. Cos. It also has been opened here and explored. You will be pleased to send these aJl to him. He who would not chcerfully mitigate the sufferings of any human being is without much claim to humanity. If you have read my Jong missive of the other night, 1 think you are not very desirous of being a11othcr and So, and for divers other reasons~ will just say. Your obt St.

You are authorised and required to seek out and take possession of all the horses and mules, belonging to the public, to be found in the neighbourhood of Buffalo Bayou and the San Jacinto, and to cause all you confined Lo be brought lo this place, where you will deliver tile same to I.
