To the Honable. the Secratary of State in and for the Republic of Texas The petition of Memucan Hunl and. J Pinckney Henderson Citizens of the United Stales of North America respectfully represent to your Honor that it is their intention lo become citizens of the Republic of Texas and have so intended since the 25th of May last past at w.hich time they arrived in said Republic, and they do now declare their intention to renounce their allegiance to all other Governments or sovereignties whatsoever Witness our hands & seals this 9th of June 1836 AD Memucan Hunt Seal J. The bea,rer of this Janus H. Callahan was a Sergeant in
Capt. Winns company of the Georgia battalion.
He was taken prisoner, when Coln. Ward surrendered, and escaped from the Mexicans a short time since say 15 days since. In consideration of his services and sufferino-s he is hereby • . b ' honorably discharged from further service in the Texian army.
