James Morgan Esqr. Dr. Sir.

In the first place I will s~y to you that I had some doubt; whether it would meet your approbation that the Knosisks should ao to the Sabine after Edwards Negroes. But as he observed to me there was about J 00 I thought it would pay well to tottch at the entrance for them. It was not done lo oblige Edwards but to prove to your interest that I agreed to the arrangement, furthermore Capt Spillman told me it would not detain lhe vessel longer than two days al furtherest. I did not know that the Boat for Edwards Goods had been filled up for Clear Creek. 1 trusted same to C<1pt. Spillman as he was out of the country and thought all would be or could be made right.
