AL the request of Col. Wheelock 1 have sent for your com- mand six pieces cotton drilling for suits, it being all we ha,·e or all that could be gotten at this place. Colonels Millare & Wheelock leave here today for Galveston & I am in hopes affairs will soon be in a better state, their mission to this place has had a most excel- lent effect on the Govt & they have shown themselves worthy the Lrusl committed lo their charge. I am in hopes matters will all be straight in a short time & that I can be able to facilitate the movements of the army much better than before i\ly hands have been completely tied, it would seem that the Government were determined lo put down the army al all hazards.
