1 have the Honor to represent to you tl1e necessity of having this office furnished with a list of all names of all officers belonging to the army of the Republic, their pay Rank & Rations;-Also of the Navy, the salarys and pay of Officers, & Marines- y our attention will greatly facilitate the duties of the Auditor and enable him to adjust all accounts with Llie Govt accurately and according Lo law.-
