We also know how to regard an unfeeling dastardly wretch, who would violate the sanctity of a treaty that had been solemnly entered into and ratified by the proper authorities, and in violation of such treaty the laws of civilized nations honour and humanity, murdered in cold blood, yes butcher them after they had surrendered given up their arms and every means of defence or protection save the articles of capih1lation which would have been a sufficient guarantee, not only for their lives but for human treatment with any people professing to be chrilized save the .Mexican Tyrant and human butcher Santa Anna, such perfidy such unparaJelled brutality, awakens in our bosoms all those feelings of horror and indignation that it must and will be awarded by all christian and civilized nations, therefore Resolved that it is not our intention to dictate to you, your duty upon the occasion but as friends to you all and the cause of Texas, we give it as our cool deliberate and decided opinion, that such Flagicious conduct ought to meet its reward. Resolved that we know what public sentiment is not only here but throughout the United States upon the subject, and it is our opinion if Santa Anna is not hung up or put to some ignominious death, that it will cause great abatement of the zeal and ardent desire for the cause of Texas. Resolved that we claim it as an act of justice to the people of the United States that Santa Anna he punished in a manner adequate to the magnitude of his crimes, he is now in your possession you have it in your power to avenge the death of our murdered friends without, any sacrifice to the Texian cause as in public estimation he is unworthy to live.
