Articles of agreement entered into between Charles Smith and Lco11ard Mortimer Thorn 1st Sc1id Smith agrees lo place himself under the proper officer al this place and proceed as may be required of him and serve for the lcrm of Three Months unless sooner discharged by a compalant authority lo serve as a substitute for said Thorn and lo comply with all the usages and customs customary in such cases as his substitute and lo bring Lo said Thorn or his agent an Honourable Discharge as his subslilule 2nd Said Thorn agrees to pay said Smith when he brings said discharge the sum of Eighty Dollai·s as a full compensation for his services.
