The House of Representatives have just passed the resolu- tions of the Senate; the vote stood on Isl. Resolution 128 to 20, on the 2nd. 113 to 22. This overwhelming majority speaks strongly the feel in gs of the American people. Members were, doubtless apprised of the feelings of their constituents and have only spoken their wishes, but have not gone as far as the people would have justified. I am in daily expectation of l\lr Collinsworth and Col. Grayson, they have not yet arrived, ~Ir Hamilton is in Philadelphia, feeling the pulse of the Capitalists, and will proceed to N cw York. It appears, from his correspondence, that a recognition by this Government of our Independence is made a sine qua non by capitalists.
