Since our lasl respccls under dale 17 lnsl. we have the pleasure to acknowledge receipt of yours, covering General Rusks report of lhe proceedings al Goliad, in Lhe interment of the Bones & remains of Lhc unforlunate individuals under Fannings command, who were massacred by by order of Santa Anna, which you will notice appeared in the Bulletin of this day. We have also the pleasure to acknowledge, receipt of W. H. Jack, Secy of State, favour under date lOLh Insl. conveying a power vesting in us the General Agency of Texas in the United States, which we have accepted and made known throughout the United Stales. We sincerely regret, the delay of Mr Triplett in his arrangements for the first Loan of $200,000-We have been assured that so soon as the Scrip arrives as forwarded to your governmenl for ratificalion (we believe by the Julius Ceasar) the money will be forthcoming & we recommend, your sending il up as soon as possible if not already on Lhe way, as it is the only way at present lo obtain funds lo support the Country.-The latest accounts from Mexico goes lo shew, that a large force is preparing lo invade Texas, and iL has the effect Ly general publication in all our newspapers to prevent sales of Scrip, tho we are of opinion that Lhey can never raise a sufficienl force to penetrate into the Country and so far we have only been enabled lo make sales, of 9600 acres of Land, at the minimum price of 50c.- We shall use our best exertions to effect sales to furnish supplies, which are now essentially necessary- By the Flash & other vessels leaving here in two or three days we shall send some supplies of provisions lo Galveston & Matagorda-We hope the Julius Ceasar may bring Lhe necessary documents relative lo lhc loan made by Mr 'friplell-as one of lhc parlics offered to advance the whole amount & in that case we should be enabled to complete you own L5th May & supply every thing now necessary for the Governmenl.
