Dear Sir
News has just reached here of the Mexican army marching back to Texas-Events will be very interesting during my absence; and I write to request of you to communicate to me whatever transpires; as I shall feel great anxiety about all Texas a ff airs, and will be al a point difficult to hear anything correctly- Direct lo Detroit- Tell Major Nixon I shall expect to see him in Nacogdoches the last of October, and that he make no settlement nor pay any money on my account to any one-but wait tiU my reh1rn-If you wish your family lo return in October let me know and I wiU try to make my arrangements to accompany them- With very friendly regards- in haste

You will receive on board your Boat Capt. Gilmer Capt. Gage & Capt. Skerritt with the men under their command amounting in all lo seventy privates and nine officers and land them al the Port of Velasco.
