We have heard with great regret that Your boat is fast on Red fish bar. In the preS<',nt emergency of the County, with a powerful enemy pressing upon us, every means of defense musl be employed and the Ocean wiU be of immense Service. I request therefore that all possible exertion may be made to get her afloat, and that You will repair with her lo this point without delay. Your obt. Servl. David G. Burnet Col. To His Excelly D G. Burnett President of the Republic of Texas Dear Sir,

By the last news from you there is a strong possibility of all the forces being called west. 1 have learned from a teller from Col. Morgan to Capt Turner that the Indian Difficulties grow out of the fact that they had been deceived by some of the Parkers by passing a quantity of counterfeit money on them & they were not unfriendly disposed to the whites, only such of them as they had been cheated by.
