In Obedience to your Instructions of the 20th 1 have caused all the Public Stores to be conveyed on board the Columbus the sloop Exchange Impressed at the same time, got underwcigh with intention to escape. I went in pursuit of her, as we could not do without it and found 1t at the pass, fortunately detained by Captn. Hurd of the Bruh1s whom making him acquainted with your views in a manner that does him honor declared his intentions of doing every thing in his power for the protection of the families & Public Stores. the Captn. accordingly accompanied me on my return to the Landing to sec to the removal of the families &c. The families and their baggage will be conveyed lo the Bark & Durango, now laying at Indian point in the Sloop but few have yet reached here. the De Leons &c. not yet arrived. Some of the families will be placed also on the Columbus. the Sick. Surgeons. Medical stores wiU be sent on the SJoop. the Bark has discharged its cargo consisting of Bacon, Bread, flour & Corn on board the Durango and will leave for New Orleans so soon as the families destined for that place are on hoard the other Vessels ,vith the Public Stores await your order as to their Destination and Directions at what points to Land the Stores and Passengers. I have brought from the Columbus sufficient fod 3 or 4 waggon Loads of Bread Stuffs which will be forwarded lo the Army without loss of time. 1 Waggon will leave the morning more provisions will be conveyed under care of Captn.
