I request that Capt Murray master of that vessel may be treated with all hospitality and kindness in a manner worthy an American to receive and lo bestow-Until a regular adjustification is made of the Watchman & her cargo it would be highly improper · to appropriate any portion of that Cargo or any disposition be made of the Vessel - Lieut Smith will remain on board as prize, master and you will render him any aid in your power until further orders from the government - Mr. Smith is directed not to suffer the hatches lo be opened or any private property on board to be molested.
