"To all who shall <mlcr the service after the firsl day of ncxl July, a quantity proportioned Lo their service and to be hereafter determined . ..Resolved, Thal Lhe lawful heir or heirs of such volunLcers, as may have fallen or may hereafter foll in Lhc present conlcst with the Mc:xic1111 Covcrnmcml, or who may have died or may hereafler die, from any accident while in the service of the country during the war, shall he granted Lhe quantity of land which would have been clue the deceased, under the Colonization L:1ws, as established by the laws of the land, had he survived. - Thal is to say one league and laborc (4604 acres) for a man of family, and one third of a league (J 476 acres) for a single man. Also, that the said heir or heirs shall receive, in addition Lo the land granted as aforesaid, a bounLy of 640 acres as decreed by the council of S:m Felippe, on the 11th day of December, 1835. "Resolved, That every applicant for land under the claims, shall present a certificate from the proper officer under whose command he served, of Lhc term of his services, faithfulness, discharge, &c., and such further evidence as may be considered sufficient, shall be presented lo a land commissioner or such proper agent as may be established by law, Lo establish the correctness of the claims. Also, that these claims may be located in any appropriated and vacant land in the country, but no single grant shall be localed in more than one body, nor any granl of 1280 acres in any other form than their two equal squares; nor any grant of 960 acres in any other form than in a square of 640 acres, and anolher square of 320 acres; nor any gTanl of 640 acres, in any other form than a square, nor any grant of 320 acres in any other form than a square. The expenses of surveying office of fees &c. shall be borne by the claimant. "Resolved, That no bounty of land as herein specified shall be construed so as to affcct the right and privileges to lands under the Colonization Laws, as established by the laws of the lands of the land of said volunteer any more than if it had not been gTanted. "Resolved, Thal said volunlecrs shall in case they be error locate any said claims upon lands previously held by legal titles or possession, be allowed to lift said location a,1d again locale said claim upon any vacant land in the Republic."
