J take greal pleasure in introducing lo you my friend Mr. A. J. Johnslon, late of the U.S. c1rmy & for several years my aid de Camp. He goes Lo Texas lo offer his service in the glorious struggle for freedom & Independence in which you and the patriotic are now engaged. He is a young gentleman of talenls 1 of high integrity, & a gallant & skillful soldier. I commend him to you, my dear sir, in alJ sincerity as a valuable acquisition to the cause. You may put nil confidence in him & I will vouch that he will never deceive you. I must ref er you to a stage trip to Washington City in i830- 31 for a recollection of me personally.

I enclose you for publication the . law passed by the convention of Texas, that those persons who are willing to serve as soldiers in her cause, may know the bounty offered lo them for that snrvice, in addition Lo their pay, which is precisely that allowed by the United States to their officers a11d soldiers. I also send you, for the information of those citizens who wish to purchase soldier's bounty Janel, the instructions issued by the cabinet of Texas, witl not only ensure lo the soldier a fairer price, but guard the citizen against fraud; as the certificate alone will be the evidence of the amount of acres to which the soldier is c11Litlcd; and his holding ii will be the best evidence of his not having lt~p;a lly disposed of hi::i
