This will be handed you by Josiah S Be (lornl Eqr. who visits Head Quarters [lorn J a volunteer in the service [lorn l the Country- and takes with him his only son Lo aid Lhe ca[lorn I of suffering Texas- You will discover the situation of this gentleman [ lorn I exempt him from mililary duty- but his anxiety lo sustain his country by examples of Service induces him. on lhis occasjon lo step forth There will be a general tum out from the Brasos but they turn out Slowly- I [torn] hopes however they will be in Lime [lorn] Still precarious-A severe cough has follo\vccl my attack of Fever, which gives me some uneasiness -as lo a hasty recovery of sound health. Y 011 will ere this have received my communication notifying you of the acceptance of my resignation by the Govl- The reason of my resignation was ill health.
