Every exertion should also be made lo place the means of Transportation by land al my Command. Every horse that js rit for Cavalry Service should he purshased or pressed and sent to the Army. We are also and the Cabinet have been cognizanl of the fact, for two months, entirely destitute of medicines. Let Texas, Government, Army and People meet the Crisis as freemen should do, and the mjnions of a Tyranical and disgraced Government, will be driven back from the soil where freemen have planted their feet-the effort must be vigorous, the contest must be maintained in all its parts with energy and freemen have nothing to fear from slaves and assassins. Ecsmo. Sr.-Hace cuatro dias que recibi en esta ciudad la nota de V. E. fecha 10 del corriente, cuyo contenido me impone de los dcseos el Ecsmo. Sr. presidente interino, con respecto a la defensa de San Antonio de Bejar, y conservacion de Tejas: uno y otro no pudo verificarse, porque las circumstancias en que se encontro el ejercilo fueron muy dificiles y no quedaba otro recurso que la evacuacion de! territorio. Yo lo hice de Bejar el 24 del mes anterior, consecuente a la orden que tuve del Ecsmo. Sr: general en gefe D. Vicente Filisola, a quien sin <luda alguna debia obeclecer, aun cuando no estuviese persuadido de la necesidad; paes que. Ia disciplina se habria resentido de la desobediencia a un general buyos conocimientos juicio y honradez, daban las suficientes garantia~ para no dudar de la recitud de sus
