Head Quarters Victoria 22 June 1836

To Capt. P. Dimmitt,

l understand that som~ of Lhe Mexican families near the point arc pretending that they have no order lo remove. A special order was issued to the Citizens of this place and a general order lo all the Citizens to remove east instantly. I have sent down the De Leon Carabajal familys and have sent men with them Lo see that they meet on Boa.rd the vessels. I shall detach more to day and send at least the men on board with directions lo report themselves to the Cabinet for their dispositions. I shall leave Cavalry here and in advance and have directed them expressly to sec my order as lo the removal of the families and such Strictly complied with as you will be near the vessels and the Steam Boat when they arrive I will thank you to render what assistance may be in y0ur power in getting them all on board & off. I have the honor to be with great respect

Since writing you last my advance have returned from beyond the Neueces bringing with them five prisoners two of them but six days from Matamoros. They confirm all that was stated by Miller, Carnes and Teal and give some further particulars, I have had the facts also corroborated from other sources of information and the following I conceive may he relied ort. They have three vessels of war, one sixteen gun Brig, these vessels Jef1 Matamoros on the 6th with transports for Vera Cruz in order to bring in a force from that quarter variously estimated nt from four lo six thousand men with nine hundred thousand dollars and a large supply of provisions munitions &c a large
