Dear Sir
I was on the eve of embarking for New York when the express, arrived with your communication. Every other consideration however will, of course, be subservient to the great end which we all have in view-the salvation of our country-I shall therefore join the Army under your command. the minul I can arrange my business-and having resigned my commission under Gen Houston will be gratified, if there be a vacancy, to receive an appointment in your Staff.
