Your note of this morning has been received-AL this time two members of the cabinet arc absent and a quornm cannot he had- Another reason why a "Prompt and decisive answer" cannot be given is found in the fact, Thal Gen! Sam Houston is still nominally in command of the army and also that Brigr. Gcnl Rusk, the acting commander, has only intimated his intention to resign-

I send to you fifty one Bbls of flour for the suffering families of Texas, and should those sufferers have left your section of Country for their homes and should it not be convenient for them to gel it, you will please sell it, as lhe money will aid them in restoring their lost property. In that case you will keep the proceeds subject lo my ordcr-·J am making every exertion to raise funds for their relief consequently sacrificing interest and inclination to charity and humanity.
