To Col James Smith Head QuarWrs Victoria 17th June 1836 You will wilh your whole force or Cavalry except thirty men rejoin the Army at I-lead Quarlers, with the greatest dispatch possiLle information has jusl reached of the rapid advance of the enemy aboul Six Thousand strong from Mallamoras lhe Army under Filisola has been hailed half way between San Patricio and Matlamoras march was to leave Mallamaros three days ago with four lhousancl new Troops this information comes in lellcrs from Carnes, Teal and Major Miller who are arrested and confined in the Mexican Camp they seccecded in gelling a letter oul hy an individual they happen lo come on with it. You will dcpatch thirly men and direcl them lo drive back across the Guadalupe and Colorado all the stock they propcrbly can with as much dispatch as possihle keeping a good look out for the advance of the enemy Cavalry. Gen I Green has advanced with about five hundred troops a part of them are at Lynns landing and the 13allance on the Brazos great dispatch and prompitude is expected in the excutions of this orderthere is nol one moment to be lost communicate the subslenceoftheorders andinformation toLt.
