In answer to your favor of yesterday re pecting the affair of Col. Fanning with the division of the mexican army com- manded by General Ul'l'ea, in which I occupied a station as engineer, I proceed to make kncwn the fact which came under my per onal observation.- On the 19th :\larch ulto. we learned in the l\Icxican Camp at 2 P :\[. that the Texian garrison had e,·acuatcd Fort Goliad and taken the. Coleto road for Victoria. Two battalions of infantry and 200 cavalry were immediately cnt to attack Colonel Fanning's force , nnd they were overtaken at Pa s Pcrdido and the action began at 4 P. ~r. which Jastrcl till nig-ht, withou (t] any advantage having been gained by either side. Genl. Urrea received next morning two pieces of urtil- ler.v which were placctl in n favorable po. ition, but were not to fil'c unless the enemy ma<lc a ·â€¢movement.
