To OUR FELLOW-CITIZE Ts_ The under igned a committee appointed by a meeting held in the town of an Felip[e] on thi 'day, present you with the a[ccom- pa]nying letter"" from the commandant [of Beja]r. You mu tread and act in the same mo[me]nt, or Texas is lost. Yon must rise from your lethargy, and march without a moment's delay to the field of war, or the next western hreeze thnt sweeps over your habitations, will bring with it the shrieks and wailings of the women and chil- dren of Guadaloupe and Colorado; and the last agonized shriek of liberty will follow. Citizens of the Colorado and. Brazos, your country is invaded - your homes are about to be pillaged, your· families destroyed, yourselves to be enslaved; and you must. one and all repair to the field of war, or prepare to abandon your coun- try. Ere this information shall be generally -circulated, the blood of many of onr citizens will baYe crimsoned the soil; [a]nd the soul of many a devoted patriot flow[n] to Heaven.
