Xo. 332 1836 Feb. 13, J. W. ROBI~SOX TO J. W. FAJ.~:'\IN, JR. [GOLIAD] San Felipe de ustin Feby. 13th. 1836 'i'IIy Dr. Col. This moment I am informed th.at couts sent out from San Antonio, who proceeded a far as Reo Freo, saw no troop , and the scouts returned 2 days previous to your order reaching there, and further that a ... Jexican arived there from the Town of Reo Grand. and says that 1600 men were there, and had halted and were baking bread &c. and was preparing to march upon an Antonio, as was reported, and that many of the men were daily deserting- I do not think the Enemy will attack either San Antonio De Baxer or tbe Fortress of Goliad. Rut that he will endeavour to throw reinforce- ments into Iatamoras is mo1·e than probable- Therefore you will always Keep in view the original objects of the campaign against the latter place, and dash upon it.a oon a it is prudent to <lo so in your opinion. I am verbally informed that the Tamanlepas was lossed off • Vela co bar, and that her cargo was sold at Auction three days since. and that Col J Wharton was at Brazoria, and that no lives were lost, the men were Regulars from N. Orlean , say 150 men, and th [e] Julias Ceza1· was about to be chartered to carry out the men to Copeno, and also a vague report has re~ch 'd here that 400 men has arrived, at Velasco from N. York. I cannot vouch for the truth- Heaven p1·osper your & your companion in Arms- I am yours truly Col. J. W. Fanning Jr. James W.
