Dr. Sir Private I .an:t truly sorry to inform you that we have progressed no farther westward but my Dr. Sir indeed we have done our be t. The direct road here was represented to be impa sable and therefore we took a circuitous rout which detained us say one day's ride. In addition it became nece ary to employ a guide to place u in the right road again and now we are here my ho1·se litterally broke clowne and cannot carry me one mile further, \Vallace's not much better tho' I think with care & kind keatment he would succeed in taking him to camp. •"Qndcr this impre ion I have been teazing him & McIntire to proceed with the documents leaving me to join them the best way I can.
