Comanches & the convenience with which the people can leave their homes. I recommend the acceptance of Eight volunteer companies into the service for six months to be mounted armed & equiped, at their own expense The companies to consist of 56 men, & placed on the same footing with regard to pay &c, as is now allowed to mounted riflemen employed in the ranging service.
