McGuflin is such that she would not consent freely for me to leave home at pres- ent. yet I expect to see that section of the Country the ernming spring or summer. I have nothing interesting to write you of this Country at this time, some fiew a Moaving to your settlement and n great many speaks of going next fall I expect my selfe to become a Citizen of that part I wish you to remember me in your selection of your lands as a friend and choose me a spot, I would bke it as a favor of you to write to me at some leisure moment as soon as you can with convenience, the gentleman that bears this is worthy of your notice as a man of candor and Honesty as such I recommend him to you- if there is any way that I can serve you in in this place I will be happy in doing so the bearer of this Capt Jones will hand you the presidents Message to the Members of both Houses o-f the present session- H McGuFFIN 12 th Feb 1 1824 [Addressed:] Coln Stephen F. El Sor Diputado por esta. Prov 9 • Don Erasmo Seguin con fecha 23 de Dicieme- ultimo del afio pasaclo, entre otras cosas dice a esta Diputacon. Provincial lo que sigue: Exmo Sor.-Al discutirse en particular el art 0 7° de la Acta Cons- titutiva que trata de designar Ios Estados de la Federacion se ban sucitado grandes difict1ltades .por la reunion de algunas provaa· en solo un Estado en que la Corriision tubo a bien reunirlas.-Sus repre- sentantes no Convinieron en ello, esto es las de las Prov 9 • de Occi- dente, y Norte; picliendo al Soberano Congreso que se reservase•Ia discusion de este articulo hasta fin de la Acta, por no tener de sus Comitentes instrucciones para formar un solo Estado, asi de las del Occidente como de las de Norte; en cuyo tiempo lo consultarian para ,er si se convenia.n con la propuesta de la Comision.-Lo mismo dijeron los de N° Leon y Santander; y aunque yo pude haber hecho la misma proposicion, me contuvo el que el Y. A. de esa capital, tiene hecho un pronunciamto. de formar un Esta.do con la de Prov•· Coahuila.-Yo no se que ventajas pueden resultarle de csa reunion,
