Received November 17, 1823 of Francis Bigham Twelve hundred and Ninety one Dollars and Eighty cents for which I hereby ob- ligate myself to make him Said Bigham complete titles for land in. my new Colony in the Province of Texas at the rate of twelve Dol- lars and fifty cents pr hundred acres, which land must be actuall,r inhabited and cultivated within two years from this date Witness my hand the day and date above written- STEPHEN F. AusTIN [Rubric] Recd payment ~or the above receipt in full October 20, 1825 FR.A 9 BIGHAM The Government of this Province under date of the 6 th of October last has applied to this Colony for aid in raising funds to pay the expenses of the Honorable Dn Erasmo Seguin the deputy in the National Congress from this Province. . Under the Present System each Province has to support its members of Congress; this Province sends one member and it probably never will be so important that he should be respectably Supported as at the present Congress, for this is the one which is to form the National Constitution and fix the future fate of the Nation as well as our own-There are many things particularly interesting to the future prosperity of this new colony as well as of all the other ne,v Settlements that may be formed here- after in this Province that will depend on the provisi0ns of the New VoLuNTARY SUBSCRIPTION FOR CoNGRESSMAN's ExPENSEs 1 . . 1 lt proved to be impossible to make use ot these subscriptions.
