Los anglo Americanos •establecidos en· estat Prov..• sobre el Rio Colorado y el de los Brazos son los mismos a quienes se les ha per- mitido colonizarse a solicitud de Don Estevan Austin, y el permiso que les coricedi6 el Corl. D~ Jose Felix Trespalacios en ·el tpo q. gobern6 esta Prov"· fue cle alistar 15 hombres de entre ellos mismos uno en ·c1ase de sargento tori 40 p 5 • de sueldo mensuales y otro en la de cabo, con el de 26, y los· restantes en la de solclados con 2-1 p•· c:acla uno pn· los efectos indicados en mi oficio n° 20 de 22 de Julio ultimo, y como· en virtud de 'esta gracia reclaman •insesantemente la satisfacion de sus sueldos, lo communico. a V. Since my return from Mexico I have been ·trying to induce the people to move nearer together. on·the Colorado I could not effect this object-some wo·uld go to the cane breake and some would not- I have determined to make one effort more on this river-the land for 15 or 20 miles above and below this to~n will be laid off in labor tracts, my wish is that the whole settlement should move to these labor tracts each one can pick his league tract and have it surveyed elsewhere and it wiff be time enough if it is improved in two years · -I wish the settlers to be satisfied if such a thing is possible-will your settlement agree to move together or not 1 I wish to do as the majority decide.
