vVhereas Sylvanus Gastleman has this day given a power of attor- ney to Henry Elliott of St Genivieve Missouri to sell a lot of land in the common field of saicl Town-Now I do hereby agree to take the said lot of ·ground as a full ·compensation for surveying said ·castlemans land in Austin's Colony in the Province of Texas and for getting the' title to said: land: hereby giving kim a receipt in full for all fees on said land-=-provided that if the title to said land be defective or incumbered this contract is to be void Austin's Colony .March 1. 1822 :STEPHEN F.
