AUTFIORTZA'rION TO E:uPLOY A NEGRO SLAVE, RICHMOND

Where as a, Negro man by the Name of Richmond 1 now at the House of Dugless Forsithe E'sqr is not in a situation to travil in Consequence of his Diseased Condition and ·where as, I the under- signed have given to the said ,Dugless Forsithe esq directions to im- ploy Doct Rivers to restore the said Negro to Health. it is clearly Understood that the said Negro man shall remain with the said Forsithe, and as soon as he is in a situation to be put to Labour, he shall Labour for the said Forsithe at Twelve Dollars pr month Untill the Expense of the said Doct Rivers is fully discharged Unless otlu~rwise paid by the Undersignd or Stephen Fuller Austin esqr to whom the said Negro belongs or by orders of either of them in that case the said Forsithe being paid the board of .said Negro untill ~ble to Labour he shall be delivered up to the undersigned or Stephen Fuller Austin or the Order of either. RECEIPT FOR SLAVE, RICHMOND

•Received from :Moses Austin a Negro man by the name of Rich- mond the property of Stephen Fuller Austin esqr who is now so dis- eased that he is not able to· travel and who is placed under the care of Doct Rivers and in case of his Removal to be placed under some Other if Necessary, to be restored to health, now be it remembered. that so soon as said Negro mun is in a. situation to labour I agree to pay Tweive Dollars pr month for the hire of said Negro nnd which money so accrning-from the labour of said Negro is to be retained in my hands to discharge Doct Rivers bill and any other Docta Bill if any other is employed and also his board untill he commences labour, Unless the said expences are other wise discharged either by the said Stephen Fuller Austin or the said Austin or there order in which case I promis to deliver said Negro man Richmond to the said Austin or his son or there order Death and other Circumstances not
