CouRT DECREE TO Fix CouNTY BooNDARIES
Territory of Missouri Circuit Court May Term
V-l ashington County 1816 • 'Whereas it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the boundary line· of this County and the County of St. Louis from the mouth of the Mineral fork in big river dividing the settlement of the richwoods from the aforesaid County of St. Louis is not .sufficiently special and well asertained. Ordered by the Court that John Hawkins be appointed surveyor to run and mark said line. Together with such surveyor a.s the Circuit Court for the County of St Louis may appoint.. The running of .said line to commence on the fifteenth day of August next. Said line to commence nt the mouth of the 1\iineral fork aforesaid Thence such a course as shall leave all the persons settled in thn.t settlement usually known by the name of the richwoods settlement on the thirty first day of December one thousand eight hundred and thirteen in the County of Wash- ington. Said line to extend as far west as the mouth of the little :M:'.erimack on the 1\1erimack river and it is further ordered by the Court that the clerk file with the clerk of the Circuit Court of the County of St Louis a Copy of this order at least ten clays previous to the next Circuit court of the County of St Louis JOHN BRICKEY A true Copy July 17 th 1816 . [Endorsed:] 1\fissouri Territory Washington County In conformity to an order of the Circuit Court for the .aforesaid County :May Term· Ordering a line to be run and marked dividing this County and the County of St Louis beginning at the mouth of the Mineral.fork on big river. Commencing on the 15th August Instant _Running as follows from the beginning N. 32 E _1 and 20 poles to avoid an impracticable Bluff thence N. 23 W. 5 miles to a post oak thence N. 31 W 3 miles to big river. Thence with the Meanders of the River making it the line to the mouth of Bretains creek Thence N. 49 W 8 miles to a post oak on the top of a ridge north of Mr. Romines near the path that leads to the Merimack. Thence N. 65 W 3 miles to the mouth of the little Merimack 1 August 17 th 1816 JOHN HAWK.INS surveyor.
