Thorn returned to the Trinity and found Sattuche living at his old residence and supplied with provisions entirely by Trammel. • The Court adjorned for half an hour, on reassembling a number of letters written to the Governor of the state by the Alcalda, were read to the Court. The Record of yesterdays proceedings was read and approved- Samuel Norris was then called and the charges against him read- to which he pleaded not guilty. 1' 7 as not ready for trial. Hosea Antonio Sepulver was called-the charges against him read-to which he pleaded not guilty. He stated that he would be ready for trial in an hour. The Court then adjourned for an hour- Jose Ant 0 • Sepulver was called and appeared to stand his trial- Francis Adams being sworn, stated. That M•· Chaplin informed him-that a letter came directed to the National Alcnlda of Nacog- doches and the nnme of Sarni. Norris was added by some person-that Chaplin attacked Sepulver on the subject who confessed that he had done it. l\1•· Adams also stated that the character of Sepulver was very infamous-the Spaniards as well as the Americans considered his character in that light. Frost Thorn being sworn stated. That some papers came from the government directed to the Na- tional Alcalcla of Nacogdoches-that the papers were not seen for at least ten days after Sepulver came to town who said that he was the bearer of them.-that the name of Samuel Norris wns added by some person, and that he heard Mr. Sepulver acknowledge that he himself had done it. Mr. Thorn also stated that the character of J. Sepulver, both in the . estimation of Americans and Spaniards, is infamous.
