Haden Edwards appeared and was sworn- The report of t.he Committee of Arrangements, which had been adopted by the public voice was then read to him- Each individual membT of the Court was then asked, if they had any charge to prefer against the snicl Haden Edwards- ..\11 answered-none- It was then proclaimed aloud to the people that any man who should have any charges against Haden Edwards, should appear and prefei· them. Samuel Norris appeared and was sworn- He stated that he knew nothing of his own knowledge against Haden Edwards as Empresario nor hnc1 any eYidence before him as Alcalda of any transaction a.ga.inst him. He also stated that the said Haden Ed- wards never asserted any civil right nor ever exercised any. Luis Procella former Alcalda of this District was then called-and sworn He said, that he never knew any thing wrong in the conduct of Haden Edwards as Empresario-he stated that Col. Edwards never claimed nor exercised any civil authority, but, on the contrary always disclaimed having any. Hosea Antonio Sepulver was called and sworn-He said he knows nothing against Haden Edwards as Empresario, of his own knowl- edge- Frnncis Adams was called and Sworn-He stated that Haden Edwa,rds never !=:howed any disposition to meddle with the Sp:rnish claims, but on the contrary. he always expressed to me a desire to avoid any interference with them- Joseph Dust was called and Sworn- He stated that Col. Ed- wards always said tha.t he (E) was not the person to decide upon claims. that they were to be decided by Commissioners- And Col. Edwa;ds always expressed an anxiety to avoid interfering with any Spnnjsh claims- Frost Thorn was sworn-and stated-that when young Trammel applied to Col.
