Dr Sir, . The Bearer of this Dr. S. Denton is on a visit to Texas to find a beautiful spot and a congenial atmosphere, on which and in which to spend ,the remai;nder• of his .days with an amiable wife whose constitution is too slender to bear our northern winds much longer. Please direct him in his_examination of your delightful country, and· I will, I trust newt year, repay the obligation personally. I wrote you, recently, by Mr. Colt, t4erefore will not now trouble you with_a long letter: Tl1<~re will be -no difficulty in -making up, even in this distant land, a. ·party.of 10 or 20 families for Texas. Forgive me, if I one~ more request letters from you-they :will be. absolutely necessary for me, _as I am a thousand times ques- tioned about the ·prospects of.settlers or emigrants from our States. DEAR Sm; . . I have the satisfaction of introducing to your acquaintance Mr. Robert Le Roy, (a connexion of mine) and Mr. E. Comstock. They· are young men of the strictest probity, of the most exemplary habits, and possessing criterpri~e ·and industry so as to render them an ac- quisition to your ·colon)~, and to ensure to themselves an enviable independ.ence. They are but the pioneers of several families who will leave tl1is part of the tJ. States next season for Texas, and they ·wish to find a place which ,vill justify them in erecting a saw mill and other works; and which will warrant the formation of a neigh- borhood of fifteen or twenty families.
