I have scribbled you a long letter, with all the careless freedom a.nd franlmess of an old acquaintance. I think you must feel some in- terest for this country and for your friends and countrymen wh6 are in [it] and I am certain you will do us all the good you can. Write to me on the subject. Has this out-of-the-way section ever occupied any place in the attention of the magnates of Washington¥ If you answer this I shall think you are willing to renew our old acquaintance and will continue to give you the Tewas news. Gobernador del E~tado el oficio de V S. de 20. de Septiembre popo. por el que re- nuncia el empleo de Coronel del Batallon de esa :Municipalidad que se le confiri6 en 6. de Abril clel aiio de 1829; mas como el articulo 11. del reglamento de la :Milicia Civico no design6 la autoridnd a qu.ien compete la admision de las renuncias a que se refiere, con motlvo de la que V S. hace, he dirijido a la Superioridad la consulta que corresponde, y en el entretanto se sirve resolver, entiendo debe V S. continuar en el ejercicio de su empleo: lo que digo 6.
