DEAR COLONEL Genl. A.. Houston of this town is a going to depart for Texns in a day or two, .he is going by the way Arkansas Ten'ito1·y, it will take him until in the month of Deer. sometime to reach you, I have given him a letter of introduction _to you which be will hand you on his arrh 1 al there, I am not-informed of his views in Visiting that country, ·Ith.ink he would be a great addition to Our country ns a Citizen, he is a very intimate friend of the Presidents and has a great-number of friends and acquaintances in this State. I think it would be well worth your .trouble .to try and Make him a Citizen of your. Colony. I have seen several accounts in th_e news papers Respecting a con- siderable difficulty in Texas between the Americans and Mexican troops Stationed in your c~lony :which terminated in a total route of them fi:om that part of the country,_ I also saw an account in a New Orleans paper of the arrivn,l of four or-five hundred troops from Genl. Santa Anna and several ships of the line which will be a grea.t advantage to the Americans, if an attack was made on them by Genl. Bustamenta an,cl his pnrty. I have no doubt but it will be nn ad- .vantage to the Colonists in future to Keep those Mexicans from inter- fering with there Rights ~nd pri¥ileges. I have.nothing ip., the way of news to write that would interest you, The prest. of the lJ. States has been in Nashville and its.vi:- ·88370-28-:----lit'i
