Envy and jealousy can never be banished from the human heart, but something may be done toward reducing the food, and tempering the excitement which keep them in activity, and madden them to fury. Thus far for the bright, now let us look on the gloomy side of the picture. The blights of Governmental restrictions overspread the land and paral,yse its p1·ogress-a darker shade than I could wish. The lights of reason and sound policy will dissipate it by showing the Government that the only true policy is to make Texas a state, and bind it to the nation by the ties of interest-the only ties that are not cobwebs with the mass of any people. . Bueno: that shade is irradiated by hope. what nexH Hope may vanish like a meteor, and the current of events become dm·k turbulent and impetue>UJJ. Such waters engender mists. Is not sickness every where¥ Exercise of body and mind with temperance will keep it off; and patience and perseverance will brush away all the shades. But, be not too sanguine. GOVERNOR JosE MARIA LETONA TO AusTIN Los Sres. Diputados Srios. del Honorable congreso con fecha 17 del corriente me dicen lo que sigue. "Ecsmo. Sor.-Esta H. Legislatura ha tenido abien acordar en sesion de este dia que los Sres. Diputados CC. Cayetano Ramos, Jose Maria Mier y Esteban F. Austin se presenten a desempeiiar sus funciones lo mas breve que les sea posible, y que V. E. clisponga se haga saber esta providencia al Sor. Diputado Suplente por el partido de Bejar ciudadano Franc 0 Bustillos para que suspendn su benida que acord6 la Diputacion Permanente en Or» de fecha 5. del corriente, satisfaciendole por las rentas del Estado los gastos que al efecto haya erogado.- De or» de la misma Legislatura lo decimos a V. E. para su conocimiento y fines consiguientes."
