THE AUSTIN PAPEBS AUSTIN TO SAMUEL M. w II.LIAMS [From Willlnms Papers, Rosenl>crg Library, Gal,eston, Tex.]
Septr. 11 1833 I have nothing important to say, more than what I have said in my letters b,v Inst mail, except that my opinion is strengthened since then, that the 6 o-E april law will be repealed in ten days after con- gress meets. It is expected there will be a meetin11 next monclay (this is weclnescla.y). In fact I now have very littl~, or rather no doubts nt all on this question. The mails and the reduction of duties will also be done, and the State matter will be sent to the other States in a favourable shape ·to be speedily and favourably dis- patched-so say the most influencial men in congress and in the Govt. The revolution is not over and Goel !mows when it will be-I fear not very soon-tho something dccissive must take place shortly for the two armies are in the field again and near each other. The cholera is nearly over-20.000 dead in this city as is said I think about lS00~it was horrible. Don't forget that october is the limit for locating grants-remember Padilla and H. Austin and Victor Blanco_and collect my dues, give the notes to Perry S.F.A. Al sor Dr Samuel 1\1. ,villiams administrndor de correos en .A.usTIY

I think I shall succeed in O'ettinCT the 11 article of 6 april law re- l:'> I:) S b' pealed-the establishment of weekly mails from Monclova to • 1 me, from :Matamoras to Goliad and from San Felipe to Brazoria and Liberty The duties on Importations will be reduced and probably sus- pended, for n time in toto tho the latter is not yet certain. The State question must take its course as pres,,ribed in the consti- tution and be sent to the other States. The revolution is not over and God knows when it will be. I have great confidence in the vice president Gomez Farinsi If the heroes of the + [ cross J get the upper hand it is difficult to sny wh_nt they will ~o as to Texas matters and it is very probable there will
